About my taxidermy|
I've always been interested in animals. Live ones, but dead ones too. From when I was a child I loved to collect bones and skulls I found in the park near to my house. When I was twelve, everyone in my class knew I was interested in dead things, and one of my classmates showed me a dead magpie he found. I took it home to skin and stuff it. My parents were so mad because they thought I bought yet another mount, haha! Sadly I don't have that magpie anymore, it got eaten by moths.
For years and years I could only look at all these beautiful mounts and skulls from other people on the internet or museums. I wanted to be a taxidermist for so long but I was too insecure to ask someone for help or to tell my parents and friends I really wanted to do this, working with dead animals and all, it's still weird to a lot of people.
8 years later, in 2016 I finally got the guts to ask some nearby taxidermists if I could take a taxidermy class from them. One responded and showed me everything I had to know and helped me mount my first bird. I'm still so grateful she made such an effort to help me with this. This first bird was mounted at the end of january, 2016. So I've only been mounting birds for a few months, I'm a real beginner but I'm very eager to learn and to become better at taxidermy!
